The Mechanics of Writing
Jean Echenoz is the author of 18 books published by the prestigious French house Les Editions de Minuit, almost all of which have been translated into English in the United States. Born in Provence in 1947, he was influenced by crime novels, jazz, and cinema – especially from America – and has built a well-crafted body of work combining humor and melancholy. He also received the 1983 Prix Médicis for Cherokee and the 1999 Prix Goncourt for I’m Gone.
