A Modern Influence: Henri Matisse, Etta Cone, and Baltimore

OCTOBER 3, 2021-JANUARY 2, 2022

Baltimore Museum of Art
10 Art Museum Drive
Baltimore, MD 21218

Through more than 160 paintings, sculptures, prints, drawings, and illustrated books, A Modern Influence: Henri Matisse, Etta Cone, and Baltimore illuminates the decades-long friendship between the French master and one of his most devoted collectors, who bequeathed hundreds of his works to the Baltimore Museum of Art. Having expanded on that foundation to build what is now the world’s largest Matisse collection at more than 1,200 pieces, the institution is preparing to open a research center devoted to the artist this December.
