2018 Sacramento French Film Festival

The 17th annual Sacramento French Film Festival screens an array of contemporary and classic pictures over two weekends. The lineup includes Godard mon amour (Redoubtable), Oscar-winning director Michel Hazanavicius’s (The Artist, 2011) humorous dramatization of the New Wave filmmaker’s relationship with his second wife, actress Anne Wiazemsky, during the political tumult of the late 1960s. Complementing this picture on the classic side is Godard’s own Le Mépris (Contempt, 1963), starring Brigitte Bardot, Michel Piccoli, and Jack Palance. Other contemporary selections include François Ozon’s daring erotic thriller L’amant double (Double Lover) and Xavier Legrand’s critically acclaimed debut feature film, the gripping domestic drama Jusqu’à la garde (Custody).
