A Day with Marie Antoinette

In addition to hosting concerts and patronizing composers, Marie Antoinette was an accomplished musician in her own right, particularly on the harp. The period instrument ensemble Ars Lyrica Houston performs A Day with Marie Antoinette, a program that imagines accompanying her from her morning music lessons, represented by a violin concerto penned by her teacher, Joseph Bologne, through to an evening’s entertainment in the form of Haydn’s “Paris” Symphony No. 85, subtitled “The Queen.”
