Grammy Award nominated musical duo from Mali, Amadou & Mariam will be in concert at multiple locations around the United States this summer. Singer Mariam Doumbai and guitarist/vocalist Amadou Bagayoko met more than 30 years ago at the Institute for Young Blind People in Bamako, Mali and have been performing as a duo ever since. Some years later in the 1980s, they married and began recording together. They have long been stars in West Africa and France and now have audiences in the US and UK since their 2005 album Dimanche à Bamako. Since this time, the duo has played at indie-rock festivals such as Lallapalozza, Cochella and Glastonbury. Their lively call-and-response vocals with blues-based rhythms get the crowd dancing or into a pensive state.
