Beninese singer and three time Grammy Award winner Angélique Kidjo will be performing on August 9th at the Hollywood Bowl and at the Embarcadero Marina Park South on August 13th. One of the greatest artists in international music today, she is a true creative force.
With a striking voice, commanding stage presence and fluency in multiple cultures and languages, Time Magazine has called Kidjo “Africa’s premier diva.” Combining West-African traditions with elements of American R&B, funk, jazz and influences from Europe and Latin America, Kidjo’s music is powerful and unlike any other. She has garnered multiple honors such as a place on BBC‘s list of the contient’s 50 most iconic figures, The Guardian’s Top 100 Most Inspiring Women in the World and on Forbes Magazine‘s list of Most Powerful Celebrities in Africa. Her newest album, Sing with the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg, reimagines 9 classic pieces from her 24 year discography and is backed by the sweeping grandeur of a 110 musician ensemble.
