French dance company Le Ballet des Amériques will present its annual production of The Nutcracker Dream at the Ballet des Amériques studios in Port Chester, New York, this December. The audience will step into Marie’s dream, a magical adaptation of the traditional Nutcracker. Marie falls asleep and envisions a grand party, which then morphs into The Land of Sweets.
The ballet was choreographed and coached by Artistic Director Carole Alexis, with excerpts after Rudolph Nureyev. The performance will feature the students of the Ballet des Amériques School, supported by the professional dancers of the company. The students will play the children in the party scene and various sweets in the Act Two, “Land of the Sweets.”
Ballet des Amériques’ The Nutcracker Dream is a child and family friendly ballet that is a wonderful way to ring in the holiday season. Performances are Saturday, December 16 at 5 p.m. and 6:30 pm as well as Sunday, December 17 at 3 pm and 4:30 pm.
