Boston French Film Festival

The Boston French Film Festival is an annual showcase of France’s finest recent releases. Among the 17 pictures on this year’s lineup are Olivier Assayas’s stylish psychological thriller Personal Shopper, starring Kristen Stewart as a medium seeking to commune with her recently deceased twin brother; Stéphane Brizé’s period drama A Woman’s Life, set in 19th-century Normandy; and Lucas Belvaux’s fictional commentary on populist politics, This Land Is Our Land. One classic film is also slated: Julien Duvivier’s Panic (1946), based on a novel by Georges Simenon and remade by Patrice Leconte as Monsieur Hire in 1989.
