The French Institute Alliance Française presents the tenth annual Crossing the Line Festival, a critically acclaimed interdisciplinary showcase for avant-garde creative talents from around the world. The celebrated choreographer Jérôme Bel occupies a place of honor in this year’s lineup. In addition to his 2005 film Véronique Doisneau, in which a mid-level member of the Paris Opéra Ballet reflects candidly on her career on the day of her retirement at age 42, festival-goers can catch his major live works to date and the world premiere of “Artist’s Choice: Jérôme Bel/MoMA Dance Company,” featuring Museum of Modern Art staff members dancing in the facility’s soaring Marron Atrium. Other festival highlights include the U.S. debut of the French choreographer and champion breakdancer Anne Nguyen in “Graphic Cyphers,” created in collaboration with Paris-based dancer Yugson Hawks and 20 New York street dancers; the final performance will take place in Times Square.
