Goun-Odyssey: “La Reine de Saba”

Goun-Odyssey is Odyssey Opera’s two-part celebration of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Gounod. In keeping with the dynamic company’s mission to “takes its audience on a journey to places they’ve never been before,” the program eschews the ever-popular Faust and Roméo et Juliette for lesser-known works. First comes a concert performance of the Orientalist opera La Reine de Saba, about a love triangle between the Queen of Sheba, King Solomon, and the royal sculptor and architect, Adoniram. November will bring a rare stage performance of Gounod’s operatic take on Molière’s Le médecin malgré lui. In French with English titles.
