Ourida is a French Algerian singer-songwriter who plays the piano. Her urban songs are radically personal. She mix the grooves and beats of jazz and pop to the tribal melodies of popular music. The lyrics are as direct as the images of a movie and each show is a trip. Ourida has performed solo, in duos, trios and quartets, with numerous musicians and instruments. She has played in many settings – from intimate stages to the huge Fête de l’Humanité.
Born in Paris, she has experienced a special connection with Marseille, Rio de Janeiro and Montreal, and she now lives in Brooklyn. New york city has added alternative rock, soul and trip hop to the mix. A major encounter with Jonathan Levy (bass) Joe Hertenstein (drums), has given her music a unique sound. On the edge of improvisation, the band is a live experience.
