Stereoptik’s “Dark Circus”

Jean-Baptiste Maillet and Romain Bermond, the duo behind the uncategorizable performance company Stereoptik, seek to make “cinema without film,” projecting onto a giant screen images that they create during their shows using charcoal, ink, and other traditional media. The pair teamed up with the children’s author and illustrator Pef, best known for the word play-filled Prince de Motordu series, to create Dark Circus, about a big-top spectacle where the everything goes wrong.
