Tanglewood Takes Flight: A Celebration of Birds and music with Mass Audubon

Nature-loving fans of classical music are in for a treat with this celebration. The series combines guided bird-watching walks with recitals by the renowned pianist Pierre-Laurent Aimard, who has long been regarded as one of the world’s leading interpreters of the music of Olivier Messiaen. Selections from that composer’s monumental Catalogue d’Oiseaux, a collection of 13 studies of birdsong, are among the pieces he will perform, as are avian-inspired works by talents ranging from the 18th-century organist and harpsichordist Louis-Claud Daquin to the contemporary British composer Julian Anderson.
