“The Trojans” by Hector Berlioz

Lyric Opera of Chicago takes on Hector Berlioz’s monumental Les Troyens (The Trojans), a work so ambitious that the composer, who wrote both the score and the libretto, never saw it performed in its entirety. The first full presentation of this five-act operatic rendering of Virgil’s Aeneid would take place in Germany in 1890, some 20 years after his death. With mezzo-soprano Sophie Koch as Didon and tenor Brandon Jovanovich as Enée.

In French with English titles.
