California entrepreneurs take note! The 4th French-American Business Awards (FABA) will take place in San Francisco on May 25. Applications for the Start-up of the Year Award will be open until April 23.
Created in 2013 by the French-American Chamber of Commerce of San Francisco (FACCSF), the French-American Business Awards (FABA) is an annual competition which rewards francophone businesses and entrepreneurs in Northern California. “Our aim is to highlight the success of the French-American community and inspire new talent to come through,” explains Eva Chaurand, the Chamber of Commerce president.
Nominees will be hand-picked by a jury made up of more than 100 local entrepreneurs, chosen for their expertise and knowledge of the market. The jury will examine each nominee’s performance over the last three years and reward 22 businesses in 11 categories (two laureates per category) such as Life-Science & Biotech, Wine, and Agribusiness. Two new categories have also been created this year: Social Impact and Woman Role Model. “The French-American Business Awards evolve with the San Francisco Bay ecosystem,” explains Eva Chaurand. “Rewarding French-American businesses that do well on a human and financial level really matters to us.”
The Start-up of the Year Award, which will take place on May 10, is open for applications. To be eligible, candidates must have a French president, a French or French-American co-founder, or be the American branch of a French company. According to eligibility criteria, applicants must also be based in the Bay Area, or be in France with a current or a future project of development in the Bay Area. Applications will close on April 23.
The official list of nominees for each category will be revealed on April 27. The award ceremony will then take place over a gala dinner on May 25 at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco.
