Ahead of her time in many ways, Suzanne Valadon rose above poverty and the obstacles of a male-dominated society to forge a career for herself as an artist. Ignoring trends, she cast an unflinching eye on the bodies and experiences of women, herself included, rendering them with a characteristically bold use of line and color. The first major American museum exhibition of its kind, Suzanne Valadon: Model, Painter, Rebel showcases 55 paintings, drawings, and prints executed between 1890 and 1932.
