The 25th New Orleans French Film Festival honors Polish director Krzysztof Kieślowski and his atmospheric 1990s trilogy Three Colors, in which each film takes its title from one of the colors of the French flag and obliquely references one of the core values of the republic – Blue (liberté) stars Juliette Binoche; White (égalité), Julie Delpy; and Red (fraternité), Irène Jacob. The rest of the lineup varies from Xavier Giannoli’s Lost Illusions (2021), based on the novel by Balzac, to The Rumba Kings, a 2021 documentary showcasing the remarkable musical heritage of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
