Jean-Michel Othoniel: The Flowers of Hypnosis

The acclaimed French artist Jean-Michel Othoniel has said his role is “to bring wonder and enchantment,” and his luminous glass sculptures do just that, whether at the entrance to Paris’s Palais Royal metro station or in the gardens of Versailles. He draws much inspiration from the botanical world and has even published a book about the hidden meanings of flowers in art. Jean-Michel Othoniel: The Flowers of Hypnosis comprises six new monumental, site-specific sculptures at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, including a celebration of the rose, one of the artist’s favorite motifs.
