Mood of the Moment: Gaby Aghion and the House of Chloé
OCTOBER 13, 2023-FEBRUARY 18, 2024
Mood of the Moment: Gaby Aghion and the House of Chloé is the first museum exhibition dedicated to the Egyptian-born designer (1921-2014). A member of postwar Paris café society, Aghion founded Chloé (named after a friend) in 1952, offering women effortlessly elegant ready-to-wear clothing that reflected a more free-spirited, modern attitude than the wasp-waisted couture fashions of the day. Some 150 garments by such celebrated Chloé designers as Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Martine Sitbon, and Phoebe Philo are on view, along with sketches and other archival materials.
