With two Netflix Specials under his belt and a comedy club in Paris, Fary Lopes – who was born to Cape Verdean parents and grew in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, a suburb east of the capital – is one of the biggest stars of the French stand-up scene, and is part of a new generation of comedians examining what it means to be French.
