Caroline Mesquita: Noctambules

NOVEMBER 13, 2021-MARCH 13, 2022

Blaffer Art Museum
120 Fine Arts Building
University of Houston
Houston, TX 77204

The Brest-born, Marseille-based video artist and sculptor Caroline Mesquita paints, oxidizes, and otherwise transforms metal, creating huge, gauntlet-like hands; life-sized humanoid figures; and spangled fish. The dynamic between man and machine is one major theme she explores in her immersive, often playful environments. The site-specific installation Caroline Mesquita: Noctambules, at the University of Houston’s Blaffer Art Museum, is the artist’s first solo museum exhibition in the United States.
