JR: The Children of Ouranos
MAY 27, 2023-MAY 26, 2024
Les Enfants d’Ouranos is a 105-foot-long site-specific work by French artist JR now gracing the south façade of the Parrish Art Museum, which celebrates its 125th anniversary this year. The luminous children seen running on what could be some other planet deep in outer space were photographed in refugee camps; unlike in his previous projects, the artist used negatives here. The title references the primordial Greek god of the heavens and father of the Titans, emphasizing the otherworldly quality of the piece.
