Lili Reynaud-Dewar: I Want All of the above to Be the Sun

MAY 18-SEPTEMBER 17, 2023

Musée d’Art Contemporain de Montréal
Place Ville-Marie

The Grenoble-based artist Lili Reynaud-Dewar studied ballet and law before turning to art, experiences she draws on to explore the relationship between the human body and society at large. Her moving willingness to use her own body in her work helped earn her the 2021 Prix Marcel Duchamp, France’s top art award. Lili Reynaud-Dewar: I Want All of the Above to Be the Sun brings together some 30 videos in which she dances, nude and painted, in museums and other public spaces. Also included are recent self-portraits in aluminum and the multi-projection film Rome, November 1st and 2nd, 1975 (2019-2021), which reconstructs the Italian writer and filmmaker Pier Paolo Pasolini’s final interview and delves into the circumstances surrounding his murder.
