Signature Sempé celebrates the work of the late French cartoonist behind the beloved Petit Nicolas children’s book series (conceived with Astérix co-creator René Goscinny) as well as more than 100 New Yorker covers that imbue even the most urban of scenes with a warm, charming humanity and joie de vivre. The exhibition coincides with the French Institute Alliance Française’s Animation First Festival, whose lineup of shorts and features kicks off with the New York premiere of 2022’s Little Nicholas – Happy as Can Be (ages 7 and up).
