Dispensing with the tortured genius stereotype, True Nature: Rodin and the Age of Impressionism offers a more comprehensive view of the artist – a groundbreaker who also sought academic recognition. Some 40 of his sculptures appear alongside works by Renoir, Monet, Cézanne, Degas, and other contemporaries, situating him in the larger social and art-historical context of his times.
